Russia is preparing for a new space mission

Russia is preparing to send a new space mission to Venus. The project, called Venera-D, is scheduled to launch in 2036. It will be a multi-vehicle mission that will include a lander, a balloon, and an orbiter to study the planet's surface and atmosphere. The project has been in development since 2003. Initially, it was discussed as a possible joint project between Russia and NASA, but after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, the US side suspended cooperation with Russian space projects.
