Space exploration: Luxembourg-led MAGPIE set to become Europe's first rover on the Moon

The European Space Agency (ESA) has awarded Luxembourg-based ispace-EUROPE €65 million to develop and operate MAGPIE, a rover planned to search for water ice at the Moon's south pole in 2029. MAGPIE stands for Mission for Advanced Geophysics and Polar Ice Exploration. The European Space Agency (ESA) has officially signed a €65 million Phase 2 contract with Luxembourg-based ispace-EUROPE covering the mission’s remaining development, manufacture, testing, transportation to the lunar surface, operations, and delivery of scientific data.
